Do you like being in nature, caring for trails and the environment? Or do you love sharing your passion for nature and history with others? Volunteering in the Marshlands is a fun and rewarding way to learn and join in community while helping preserve natural spaces and species. We have opportunities that match a whole range of schedules and interests, including remote!

Stewardship Team
- Trail Steward– “adopt a trail” and hike it once a month (or more) to report on its condition and do a little cleanup as needed! (More info here!)
- Special Projects– join in our scheduled events for removing trash from the Marshlands, invasive species control, trail maintenance and improvement.
Tulpehaking Nature Center (TNC) Welcome Team
- Smile– be the friendly face at the Nature Center that greets people, answers questions, and provides information and a warm welcome.
- Assist– the TNC staff by signing in participants and helping with programs and events.
- Share– your knowledge, enthusiasm and skills in creative and administrative projects around the nature center.
Community Outreach Team
- Community Event Ambassadors– have fun representing The Friends and spread our mission at our programs and community fairs and festivals.
- Special Events– interact with fun people and represent the Friends while interacting with historical, ecological and other local organizations and schools.
Programs Team
- Leading Programs– lead our walks and programs highlighting your interests, we provide training and support!
- Program Support- assist the leader/presenter at our programs and help out with participant interaction.
- Voices for the Abbott Marshlands -help with our bi-annual photography show to publicize, staff, set up and break down our juried photo exhibition.
Publicity Team
- Technology– help with our graphics, video, and digital promotions and presentations.
- Social Media– post, share, support and expand our current efforts.
- Photography– providing quality images of our our events and programs for use by the Friends.
- Community Connection– help us reach and expand community by spreading the word “door-to-door” to local organizations and businesses.
Fundraising Team
- Events– help plan, organize and support our fundraising events
- Email- reach our current as well as potential members through email campaigns.
- Brainstorming– creative new ways to increase our membership and donations.
