Christmas on the Creek – Watson House

The historic Watson House will be lit by candlelight and simple decorating with fresh greens, costumed re-enactors will delight visitors with tales of local
activity, daily life & living in an 18th century home during revolutionary times. Gingerbread themed decorations and crafts will be displayed. We would like to share this special ‘Early American Gem’ with you to enjoy a simpler time and slower pace as we move into our modern-day rush of holiday preparations. See an earlier time in our American History – long before it was customary to celebrate ‘the Holidays.’

The home and land were settled, and the house built in the early 1700’s and occupied into the mid-20th century. You can decide if you can picture yourself living “by candlelight” to do everyday chores, sewing, mending, reading and cooking!

We work hard to maintain our 300 year-old floors, please wear sneakers or flat- soled shoes – high heels NOT allowed in the building. This event is open to DAR members, families & the general public. (May not be appropriate for anyone with walking problems or children in strollers).

Donations are gratefully accepted, and all proceeds will be used for the ongoing maintenance and repair of collection and artifacts in the historic home.
