Bordentown Bluffs Reboot Project

We will be working during the next few months to reroute a section of this trail to make it more sustainable and enjoyable.  Volunteers will clear vegetation and scrape a trail into the side of the hill. No experience necessary. All tools and training will be provided.

Join us on this rewarding project!

Fill out the form and we’ll be in touch and keep you informed as work days are scheduled.

Additional Project Information

What:  A section of the Bordentown Bluffs trail adjacent to a ravine will be rerouted. This will involve clearing vegetation from the newly marked route and using hand tools to cut a foot path into the side of the hill. Tools will be provided; however, volunteers should come with a sturdy pair of work gloves.

Why:   The existing trail is becoming eroded due to being compacted from use and its steep slope as the trail descends into the ravine. The new trail will have a gentler slope to lessen the rate of erosion and will provide scenic views of Crosswicks Creek.

When:  Work will commence in mid-October and will be scheduled for occasional weekday and Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. – noon, throughout the fall. Interested volunteers are encouraged to complete the information form and we will notify you as the workdays are scheduled. Volunteers would then sign up for specific workdays as they are able. Completing the information form would keep you informed but not commit you to working.

Where:  The meeting location is the Bordentown Bluffs trailhead on Stanton Ave. We would then walk as a group to the work site.

Next steps:  If you have questions about the project or the work that it entails, contact Cathy Frank (cathyfrank@abbottmarshlands.org). And if this project interests you, complete the information form to stay informed about specific workdays and progress throughout the fall.
