Watson Woods

May 2 @ 11:39 am

The Abbott Brook Trail in Watson Woods follows an old carriage road through a beech, maple and oak woodland to a creek crossing at the base of the bluff just below the Watson House.   The Abbott Bluff Trail in the same area climbs to the top of the bluff and leads to the depression in the ground which is all that remains of the home of Charles Conrad Abbott that was destroyed by fire in 1914.  Watson Woods is located in the John A. Roebling Memorial Park, owned and managed by the Mercer County Park Commission.

Directions:  From South Broad St., turn west onto West Park Ave. and then left on Westcott Ave.  The park entrance is just before the Tulpehaking Nature Center at 157 Westcott.   There is a parking area on the right between the Watson House and the Tulpehaking Nature Center.   You can park here and walk down the hill or drive down the hill to additional parking,  hiking trails, picnic tables, and the Watson Creek boat launch area.
