Volunteering with The Friends for the Abbott Marshlands is a fun and rewarding way to join with a community of dedicated people to help preserve the natural marshland spaces and species. We have opportunities that match a whole range of schedules and interests- this blog features our Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 16 from 10-12 noon.
We need volunteers who don’t mind getting a little muddy to help clean up the Abbott Marshlands! The Marshlands are a unique freshwater tidal marshlands system which unfortunately is often a recipient of trash – both from the tides that bring in debris from the Delaware River and inland trash from the streets and storm drains. These seasonal cleanups in accessible areas of the marsh make a big difference in keeping the accumulation of debris in check and the marsh waters and beds healthier for the many species that live there.
If your schedule allows you to come out to volunteer for this one day, you are welcome and needed! It’s a way to make a positive impact on the environment, meet others that care, and contribute to community. Please email info@abbottmarshlands with any questions!
More info and registration is here!
The event is co-sponsored by the Friends for the Abbott Marshlands , the Mercer County Park Commission, and the AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassadors Program.
