A freshwater tidal marsh - an urban oasis.
History Open House at Tulpehaking Nature Center
Light Refreshments will be served. Program is free and no registration is required.
Drop in to this open house event at the Nature Center to experience the Abbott Marshlands from 13,000 years ago to present time. With a slide show presentation and ancient artifacts on display to see and touch, learn about the earliest inhabitants of the bluffs overlooking the marsh, and some of its more recent inhabitants including a prominent Revolutionary War time citizen, French royalty in exile, the medical doctor who started an archaeological controversy that put the marshlands on a world stage.
And plan ahead so you can also visit our neighbors from the DAR at: Watson After Dark (5:30 – 8:30 pm). See the Watson house and grounds by candlelight and explore “behind the curtain” with costumed re-enactors who will entertain visitors with stories and displays about the lives of the “former” residents of this historic property. There is no registration required, the Fee is $10 for adults $5 for children under 12. Check or cash at the door. Last tour is 8:00 p.m. For more info you can download the flyer here.
